Message from your new Chair

2025 was a bumper year for Transition Crich with a very long list of achievements to its name including supporting the Neighbourhood Creative Agent Project, which had over 800 unique attendances at many local workshops and events in 2024 and 2025.

I am stepping into the role of chair with an organisation that has gone from strength to strength since its formation in the spring of 2022, including a new Community Benefit Society for activity based around the great work we have been doing with CPRE and Keele University on the Crich Community Energy Project.

We have a new strategy in place which was co-created last summer by our members, along with a clear set of priorities for our areas of work in Saving Energy and Reducing Waste and Protecting Green Spaces and Conserving Wildlife

In addition to this we have developed goals around community engagement, partnership development and fundraising, which I intend to help progress in my year as chair.

New projects include Biodiversity in Your Backyard – starting with bringing Swifts back to Crich – and Growing to Gathering through which we will highlight the benefits of growing, cooking and eating food together.

We will continue to encourage people to Love it Again - our initiative around upcycling – and share our assets through our Library of Things (accessed via our WhatsApp Community).

And no year would be complete without our small but mighty Share and Repair Café, held once a quarter and our monthly Make, Do and Mend Skills Share sessions, plus bi-monthly Community Litter Picks

Watch out for our series of sustainable and nature-inspired Art Share workshops in partnership with Crich Crafters, which have been kindly funded by Make/Shift and Crich Parish Council.

We invite you to join our WhatsApp Community or attend our meetings. Bringing friends and family to our events can help expand our network and impact.

Together, we can make a meaningful difference in tackling climate change. I am committed to spreading hope that our collective efforts contribute to a healthier people, place, and planet.
