Spring Share & Repair Café

May 2025

Our second Share & Repair Café of 2025 bloomed into life on Saturday 17th May, bringing colour, creativity and community spirit to Crich Glebe Community Centre.

This time, alongside our ever-popular free spring bike checks, clothes swap, seed swap, and gardening tips, we welcomed the return of our talented volunteer repairers - who can fix everything from toasters to trousers with care and conversation.

In fact, 28 items were repaired on the day - keeping precious things out of landfill and giving them a new lease of life!

One especially heartwarming moment came courtesy of Clare and Sue, our superstar sewers, who transformed a tablecloth into a cosy poncho for one visitor’s mum - just in time for her return home from hospital following shoulder surgery.

A small act of kindness with a big impact.

The event included an Artshare to celebrate anyone who had made something special in spring.

This included wire and paper flowers and visible mending pieces from the creative project with Crich Luncheon Club and Crich Juniors as well as a special Earth Day Display also from the children of the Junior school, who have been exploring the topic of ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’ as part of their Geography studies.

Members of the community brought in their own work and the whole display was dressed in beautiful bunting made by people who came to our Share and Repair café in March.

A big thank you to everyone who came along, donated tools and ink cartridges, brought something to fix, shared something beautiful, or just came for a cuppa and a chat. These events thrive because of you.

See you at the next one in September!
